FIBC stands for Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers. FIBC, also known as ton bags, are flexible containers used for transporting and storing bulk materials. Features include moisture-proofing, dust-proofing, radiation resistance, and high safety, as well as high strength and durability. Ton bags range in weight from 0.3 to 3 tons, with volumes from 500 to 2,300 liters. Shapes include round, square, and U-shaped, allowing for a variety of lifting methods. The manufacturing process involves melt extrusion, stretching, and heat-setting of polypropylene raw materials to create a high-strength woven fabric base. Ton bags are widely used in various industries, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and grain, and are particularly suitable for packaging hazardous materials. In the international market, FIBC ton bags must meet strict standards for UV resistance, aging resistance, and safety factors.

FIBCs are commonly referred to in Chinese as ton bags, ton packages, bulk bags, ton bags, space bags, flexible containers, and mother-and-child bags. They are flexible containers designed for transporting and storing bulk materials. They are favored for their moisture-proof, dust-proof, anti-static, radiation-resistant, and high safety features, while also exhibiting sufficient structural strength and durability. FIBC ton bags offer easy loading and unloading, high handling efficiency, and are typically made of polyester fiber materials such as polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE). FIBC ton bags are a versatile flexible container solution in modern logistics.
1.FIBC Shape and Material
In the FIBC packaging industry, there are two types of FIBC packaging: "Golden Diamond Bulk Bags" and "NLP Bulk Bags," differing primarily in their raw materials, UV exposure, and tensile strength. Currently, Golden Diamond Bulk Bags are the leading product in the entire plastic woven bag industry.
Applicable Type: Reusable or disposable.
Shape: Available in square, rectangular, round, and U-shaped shapes.
Lifting Methods: Available from top, side, and bottom.
Inlet: Available with or without an inlet (large opening/waterproof cover).
Outlet: Available with or without an outlet.
Raw Material: Primarily polypropylene (PP).
Classified by function: Type A (ordinary bulk bag), Type B (anti-static bulk bag), Type C (conductive bulk bag), and Type D (anti-static bulk bag).
2.FIBC Codes and Shapes
YF: Round, with discharge port, partially open
YQ: Round, with discharge port, fully open
YW: Round, without discharge port
FX: Square, box-shaped
FB: Square, semi-loose
FQ: Square, fully loose
3.FIBC Manufacturing Process
FIBC bulk bags begin with polypropylene (PP) raw material. Depending on the customer's performance requirements, a small amount of auxiliary materials may be added. The plastic film is then melt-extruded through an extruder. The film is then cut into filaments, stretched, and heat-set to produce high-strength, low-elongation PP strands. These strands are then woven and laminated to form a plastic woven fabric base, which is then sewn with accessories such as straps to create the final FIBC bulk bag.
4.FIBC Applications
Bulky bags are widely used for the loading, unloading, transportation, and storage of chemical raw materials, pharmaceutical raw materials, plastic raw materials, grain, starch, food additives, feed, cement, metallurgical powders, mineral powders, refractory materials, and granular materials. Even for highly hazardous materials like calcium carbide, which is flammable and explosive when heated, bulk bags are very convenient for loading, unloading, transporting, and storing calcium carbide, with pallet-type bulk bags being particularly popular. FIBC bulk bags offer a unique multi-layer composite packaging solution, ensuring safe and efficient packaging.
