The presser foot is a crucial component on a sewing machine used to hold the fabric firmly and stabilize the sewing process. It securely presses the fabric onto the needle plate and feed dog, preventing fabric shifting, wrinkling, floating, or skipped stitches during sewing. Working in conjunction with the feed dog, it ensures even fabric feeding, guaranteeing straight stitches and consistent spacing. Different types of presser feet can also meet various specialized sewing needs, such as zipper stitching, hemming, leather sewing, thick fabric sewing, blind stitching, and pleating. The pressure can be flexibly adjusted according to the thickness and elasticity of the fabric, resulting in smoother sewing and a flatter, more aesthetically pleasing finished product.

Common Presser Foot Usage Techniques

Roller Presser Foot

Roller Presser Foot

Structural Principle: The presser foot integrates a rolling bearing structure on its bottom surface, replacing sliding friction with rolling friction to eliminate feeding resistance for thick materials/coated materials/leather.

Suitable for: Leather, PU, coated fabrics, thick canvas, denim fabrics.

Features: Improve fabric feeding synchronization, eliminating fabric stagnation, wrinkling, and interlayer slippage; For thick materials, increase presser foot pressure, using coarse feed dogs and coarse stitches; Use low-speed feeding for excessively thick seams to ensure uniform and stable stitches.

 Walking Foot/Synchronous Feeding Presser Foot

Walking Foot/Synchronous Feeding Presser Foot

Structural Principle: The presser foot and feed dogs achieve synchronous upper and lower feeding, forming a double-layer forced feeding mechanism.

Suitable for: Multi-layer thick material composites, quilting, cushions, tents, filter bags, and other thick material splicing.

Features: Eliminate fabric feeding differences between upper and lower layers to ensure accurate alignment of multiple layers of thick fabric; reduce presser foot pressure during thick layer splicing, relying on a synchronization mechanism for stable feeding; suitable for thick fabric sewing processes with high thickness differences and high risk of misalignment.

High&Low Presser Foot / Step Presser Foot

High&Low Presser Foot / Step Presser Foot

Structural Principle: The presser foot has a single-sided stepped structure on the bottom, with the lower edge fitting against the seam allowance and the higher edge suspended to avoid thick ridges.

Process Compatibility: Thick fabric edge stitching, 0.1/0.2mm topstitching, thick seam overpasses, pocket/placket stitching.

Features: Achieve stable, equidistant control of topstitching on thick fabrics, ensuring straightness and uniformity of the seam; the stepped structure avoids thick layer steps, solving problems of skipped stitches, floating threads, and jamming when overpassing thick fabrics; available in left-high and right-high types, matched according to the seam direction.

Teflon Non-stick Presser Foot

Teflon Non-stick Presser Foot

Structural Principle: The bottom surface uses a low-friction Teflon coating to reduce adhesion resistance between sticky fabrics and the presser foot.

Suitable for: Leather, PVC, rubber surfaces, and coated waterproof fabrics.

Features: Prevents scratches, sticking, and dragging marks on rubber surfaces, improving surface quality; Achieves smooth fabric feeding under medium presser foot pressure, reducing indentation defects; Complements roller presser feet: Teflon for thin leather/rubber materials, roller for thick leather.

Oversized Thick Material Foot

Oversized Thick Material Foot

Structural Principle: Large bottom area and slightly concave structure in the center ensure even pressure distribution and improve the stability of thick material bonding.

Suitable for: Extra-thick felt, multi-layer canvas, composite padding, and long-distance straight-line thick material sewing operations.

Features: Enhance the stability of sewing thick materials, suppressing edge curling, misalignment, and twisting; High pressure combined with thick needles and thick thread meets the penetration and stitch strength requirements of ultra-thick materials.

Single-sided Presser Foot / Zipper Foot (Invisible Zipper / Half Foot)

Single-sided Presser Foot / Zipper Foot (Invisible Zipper / Half Foot)

Structural Principle: Single-sided presser foot structure, with the needle position open on one side, achieving high-precision sewing close to the teeth/edge.

Process Compatibility: Thick material zipper installation, piping, binding, narrow edge topstitching, and edge sewing.

Features: Ensure consistency in the spacing between zipper teeth, piping, and seam allowance; Improve the operability of narrow edge processes on thick materials, reducing skipped stitches and misaligned stitches; Left/right single-sided type selection corresponds to left/right hand operating habits.
