The stitch formation process is as follows: Feeding forward, the needle swings along the left baseline with a small stitch pitch to insert the fabric, forming a left horizontal row of buttonhole stitches.
At the limit position before feeding, the needle swings with a larger amplitude and a larger stitch pitch to insert the fabric, forming an upper looper buttonhole stitch.
The backward feeding process involves a change in needle position (from the left baseline to the right baseline) and a change in needle oscillation amplitude (from a loop stitch to a smaller horizontal stitch). This sews the needle along the right baseline, forming a right horizontal buttonhole stitch.
At the final feeding point, the needle oscillation amplitude increases again, forming a lower loop buttonhole stitch.
Two to three stitches before the buttonhole stitch ends, the cutting mechanism cuts open the buttonhole.
Straight buttonholing sewing machines are suitable for buttonhole sewing on thin and medium-thick materials, and are commonly used for shirts, underwear, work clothes, etc.
